The Anderson Center, along with the Red Wing Public Library and Mackin Educational Resources, will once again host the Annual Celebration of Minnesota Children’s Authors and Illustrators on September 19 from 12:00 – 5:00 pm. Marking its 16 th year, the event features a stellar line-up of Minnesota’s finest, award-winning authors and illustrators, including recently retired Minnesota Supreme Court Justice and NFL Hall of Famer Alan Page. In his book, "Alan and His Perfectly Pointy, Impossibly Perpendicular Pinky," Page visits a grammar school class. A boy asks him: "What happened to your finger?" Page's left pinky is disfigured, jutting out at a 90-degree angle. He dislocated it during a game when he was a Minnesota Vikings defensive tackle. "The story is really a metaphor that we really do learn from each other and that even those children who sometimes seem to be doing things out of place -- it's not always a bad thing" says Page.
